The premise of 「偽りのケンタ」 turns on a strange transformation: after merging with a unicorn, the heir to the Draconia household becomes a false centaur, neither fully human nor fully beast. This is not a form he can simply live with. As heir to his family's position, he must return to his original shape to be considered a proper successor, and he also wants to see again the woman from the guild for whom he carries feelings.

That double motivation, duty to his family and desire to see one particular person again, gives the story a simple but effective engine. He sets out on a journey to find a spirit god, hoping that doing so will let him shed his unwanted centaur form. The quest format gives each step of the story a clear purpose, while the unresolved nature of his body keeps a steady thread of urgency running underneath.

Readers who enjoy premises built around a character forced into an awkward, visibly different state will find plenty to like here. There is something almost fable-like about a noble heir wandering the land in a form that marks him as other, trying to earn back the life he was supposed to have. The emotional throughline, his wish to be seen again by someone he cares about, keeps the journey grounded in something personal rather than purely mechanical.

The second volume continues following him in this altered state, still searching, still carrying both the weight of his family's expectations and the hope of reuniting with the guild woman. For readers drawn to stories about identity, transformation, and the lengths someone will go to reclaim their place and their chance with another person, this series offers a premise that is easy to grasp and genuinely distinctive.
