For fans of
This volume continues an ongoing anthology series built around the world and characters of 「メイドインアビス公式アンソロジー」. Rather than a single continuous story, it gathers short pieces from a roster of different manga artists, each offering their own take on characters readers already know from the main series.
The lineup of characters mentioned spans well beyond the central trio. Readers can expect material touching on the show's most recognizable figures as well as more unusual inclusions, such as the inhabitants of the village of returnees and other named figures tied to the Abyss's darker corners. That spread suggests a book interested in texture and side corners of the setting, not just a retread of its most famous faces.
Anthologies like this tend to appeal most to readers who already love the original work and want more time with its cast in different hands and moods. Because each contributor works independently, the tone shifts from piece to piece, giving a kind of variety that a single ongoing story cannot offer. Someone who enjoys seeing familiar characters reimagined through other artists' linework and comic sensibilities will find plenty to sample here.
The cover illustration comes from the creator of the original series, giving the collection a visual throughline even as the interior art changes hands repeatedly. For longtime followers of the franchise, that cover alone signals a kind of blessing on the project, tying this side material back to its origin point.
Taken together, this is a volume for readers already attached to the Abyss and its inhabitants, curious to see how other artists handle characters they already care about. It is less an entry point than a supplement, best enjoyed by those who already know the main story and want more of its world explored from new directions.
